Health determinants and podiatry

Podiatry Programme, Public Health Services, Regina Health District, Saskatchewan S4P OW5, Canada

Public health and podiatry have a natural union both through historical development and a shared interest in prevention. Podiatry is considered in terms of health determinants such as income, social support, education and environment. The author considers that podiatry has a constructive role to play in the improvement of health and well-being in terms of the previously unrecog nised relationship of the profession to the deter minants of health and population health promo tion.
